Lady Eagles defeat Elkhart, Groesbeck

The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Elkhart and Groesbeck this past week to move to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in district play. Fairfield traveled to Elkhart on Tuesday night, March 18, and brought home a 10-5 win over the Lady Elks.

The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Elkhart and Groesbeck this past week to move to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in district play.

Fairfield traveled to Elkhart on Tuesday night, March 18, and brought home a 10-5 win over the Lady Elks.

The Lady Eagles took a 6-0 lead over the Lady Elks after two innings of play. Elkhart came back and scored a run in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth to make it a 6-4 game. However, Fairfield scored two more runs in both the sixth inning and seventh inning as Elkhart only managed to get one runner across the plate in the sixth inning.

Fairfield had eleven hits during the game. Haylee Allen led with three hits, Cadence Webster, Madelyn Morrison, and Ryleigh Lane two hits each, and Evelyn Fultz and Kayle Ridge one each. Allen pitched for the Lady Eagles and had seven strikeouts. Fairfield had six errors in the game as Elkhart had four errors.

The Lady Eagles hosted Groesbeck on Friday, March 21, and took a huge 16-1 home win over the Lady Goats.

Fairfield scored five runs in the first, four in the second, six in the third, and one in the fourth for the victory. Groesbeck’s lone run came in the top of the third inning.

The Lady Eagles had eleven hits in the game. M. Morrison had four hits as Allen had two as Webster, Reese Beaver, Fultz, R. Lane, and Hadlie Morrison each had one hit. Allen pitched the four inning game for the Lady Eagles and struck out eight batters. Groesbeck had six errors in the game.

Fairfield traveled to Teague on Tuesday night, March 25, to take on the Lady Lions. The Lady Eagles will travel to Westwood to take on the Lady Panthers on Friday, March 28, before hosting Mexia next Tuesday, April 1, to start the second round of district play.
