CCC seeks donations for SuperSale

Each spring, the Community Care Club, a group of women who live in the FM 416 area on the south side of Richland Chambers Lake, holds a huge garage sale as its annual fundraiser. The 2024 SuperSale will be held Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Volunteer Fire Station, just north of FM 416 at 120 Southern Oaks Drive, east of Streetman.

But, to keep their tradition of a “zillion” items in the sale, they need donations. Items that are usually used but still have value to another family.

“We’re reaching out to residents across the Freestone County and Navarro County areas to ask for donations for what we call ‘a garage sale on steroids,’” said Mary Schutz, one of the event coordinators. “We’re looking for things that are new or gently used, unbroken, unsoiled, and functional or easily repaired, that will fit our description of desirable items for the SuperSale.”

Examples of items that bring in cash for the Club’s many projects include such things as small or large appliances, furniture, home décor, kitchen items, linens, electronics in working order, collectibles, toys, tools, yard equipment, workshop equipment, and functional vehicles such as autos or tractors. Organizers ask that you not donate clothing, mattresses, books, CDs, or broken items. Items should be brought to the SOVFD Fire Station, 120 Southern Oaks Dr., east of Streetman 75859 on Friday, April 25, Drop-off Day, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Contact Mary at 903-467-9545 for directions or additional information.

From Fairfield, take FM 488 to FM 416, turn into the Southern Oaks subdivision and you will see the fire station and the clubhouse, where items will be displayed and ready to sell by 8 a.m. on sale day, Saturday, April 26. From Corsicana, take Hwy 287 to FM 488, then turn right on FM 416 off 488.

CCC is a 501c3 charitable organization. Donations, cash or items, are deductible according to IRS rules. A signed donation value form will be provided upon request.
