Six Lions are headed to Regionals after taking second place at the District golf meet held at the Tri County Golf Club on Monday, March 24, and Monday, March 31st.
“We’ve had a great year so far and these guys rose to the occasion when the district meet came along,” Coach Josh Ingram said. “They competed from the first tee box to the final green. It was really fun to watch, but we’re not done just yet. Our goals are set high.”
Grayson Dancer shot an 80 in round one and a 71 in round two for a total of 151 and to finish second overall. Carter Stacks shot a 78 in round one and an 84 in round two for a 162 and to grab fourth overall. Landon Evan shot an 86 and a 92 for a total of 178. Jay Craddick shot an 84 and a 95 for a 179. Dylan Gauntt shot a 90 and a 93 for a 183. The team total was a 668 to finish as second place team.
Blaine Black qualifi ed as an individual which means Teague will have a total of six players competing at Regionals. He shot an 81 in round one and an 88 in round two to finish fifth overall with a total of 169. The Teague boys will be competing on Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17, in Brenham at the Regional Tournament.
“This year has been great all around, I’ve had more players participate this year than I’ve had any year I’ve coached,” Ingram said. “A total of 19 players (boys and girls) from Teague were at the district tournament. Many of these golfers are underclassmen. We’re in a good spot now and the future is also looking bright.”
