Lydia Morgan, a senior at Fairfield High School, has been named the 20242025 Fairfield High School Student of the Year.
“I am very excited, honored, and humbled to be named the FHS Student of the Year,” Morgan said.”
After graduating in May, Morgan plans on going to the University of Texas unless she is admitted to one of the other schools that she applied to. She plans to major in neuroscience, but does not have any definitive plans after college yet.
Morgan has always lived in Fairfield and attended Fairfield ISD.
At FHS, Morgan is involved in the band, tennis team, Beta Club, and U.I.L. Science and Literary Criticism. She served as a section leader in the Grand Band from Eagle Land.
Some honors that Morgan has received at FHS include Honors Biology Student of the Year, Pre-AP Chemistry Student of the Year, AP Chemistry Student of the Year, and Spanish 2 Student of the Year. She is also an AP Scholar and a Commended National Merit Scholar.
“Lydia’s achievements speak volumes about her dedication, hard work, and leadership across all areas of her high school career. Academically, Lydia has been recognized nationally with an ACT Superscore, SAT Superscore, AP Scholar, National Rural and Small Town Recognized Student, and Commended National Merit Scholar,” Fairfield High School Principal Sonya Gibson said. “But most of all Lydia has great character and cares about her peers and those amongst her. Lydia’s combination of academic excellence, leadership skills, compassion, and commitment to greatness truly make her stand out.”
When asked what advice she would give her underclassman about doing their best in high school, she said, “I would tell them to remember that high school is just a stepping stone to a larger goal, but in order to reach that goal they must work hard continuously and never give up.”
Morgan excels in both academics and in extracurricular activities.
“As a section leader in band and a member of the solo and ensemble team advancing to state, she demonstrates her musical talent and leadership,” Gibson said. “She has proven herself in UIL Academics as well, competing in UIL Science and Literary Criticism and advancing to regional and state competitions. In addition, Lydia has competed as a varsity tennis player, balancing athletics with her academic excellence.”
Lydia is the daughter of Chad and Angela Morgan. She has two brothers, Nate and Luke.
When asked what she was thankful to be an Eagle, Morgan said, “I am thankful for all of my teachers here that went above and beyond and for the unique experiences I gained as a Fairfield Eagle.”
