I initially thought it was National Pet Week, but it seemed more like National Donut Week! The week started on a sweet note when Carl generously donated blueberry cake donuts on Monday morning. Sharon added to the feast with an assortment of sugar and oatmeal cookies for everyone. On Thursday, Barbara brought delicious fruit-filled pastries, and Kim contributed an assortment of donuts on Friday. We’ve been fortunate to enjoy early morning coffee and fellowship while appreciating the kindness of our “SWEET” folks! Thankfully, they were thoughtful enough to take out all the calories!
It’s been another week of tasty and excellent meals. The atmosphere in the dining room brightened when Sindra arrived with her lovely 5-year-old daughter, Georgia. They brought an excellent variety of gifts and fun blackout prizes for Bingo on Wednesday. Georgia is a sweet, well-mannered girl who told us she goes to kindergarten in Groesbeck and has a 10-year-old sister. It’s always refreshing to have young faces around. A big thank you to Sindra for her dedication and promptness in sponsoring and calling Bingo for us once a month; we always look forward to her visits. She does an outstanding job, and I’m not sure who enjoys it more— her or the bingo players. It’s heartwarming to see some of our friends who have been absent lately returning.
Please remember to pray for the men and women serving in our military, as well as for our country and community. We extend our condolences to those who have recently lost loved ones. We are also deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter accident that took the lives of a family of five, both parents and 3 children here from Spain. There are truly no words to express the depth of this loss. When we find ourselves complaining, let’s take a moment to reflect on such tragedies reported in the news. In light of such immense grief, our complaints and issues seem small.
We’d love for you to join us for fellowship at the center. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers and dedicated drivers for Meals on Wheels who brighten our days. Also, please note that we will be closed on Good Friday. Wishing everyone a safe and healthy Easter weekend.
Thank you, and God bless you. Vonda Brooke
