Longtime civic leader Jane Morrison was awarded the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce this year.

΅It was a great honor to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. I was very surprised,” Morrison said. “I didn’t know why I was going. My son told me he had a table and wanted me to go. When they started reading the biography, I recognized where I was born and my birthday and was like, Oh my goodness, they are talking about me.”

Morrison said that she feels honored because there are so many other deserving people in the community to receive this award as well.

“I am so thankful to be a part of Fairfield and Freestone County,” Morrison said. “I’m so thankful my family lives here and in Groesbeck. We have such a wonderful community with great people.”

Morrison was born on May 18, 1950 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Brice and Alice Crow. In 1952, her Dad, who worked for Alcoa was transferred to Rockdale, TX where she was raised along with her brothers Dr. John Crow of New York and James Crow of Austin.

She met her husband, Wendon, when she was a junior in high school and he was a senior. The couple was married in 1970 and have been married for 55 years. They moved to Fairfield in 1974 so they have been here for over 50 years.

The couple have three children, Michael (wife Piper), Mark (wife Brooke), and Monica (husband Clinton). They have six grandchildren, Madelyn, Landon, Hadlie, Brice, Carson, and Willa Jane.

Jane is very involved in the Fairfield community. She serves as Secretary for the Freestone Cancer Support Group, Secretary for Harmony Presbyterian Church, and Advisor for the Trinity Star Arts Council. She is also active in the River of Life Pantry, runs errands for the homebound, provides free tax service for seniors, and helps with the nursing home program Train of Hope.

Morrison has played an active role at Harmony Presbyterian Church where she has been an active member for many years. She has served on countless committees and leads the handbells choir.

Throughout her career, she worked in education and finance. Jane enjoys playing Bridge, Pikino, and Bunco. In years past, she enjoyed spending time with her society sisters, Alpha Phi Psi Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she served in many capacities.
