Lady Eagles defeat Buffalo and then fall to Elkhart

The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Buffalo 6-3 and fell to Elkhart 4-2 in their first district loss this past week to move to 11-3 on the season and 9-1 in district play. On Tuesday, April 8, Fairfield traveled to Buffalo and brought home a 6-3 victory over the Lady Bison.

The Fairfield Lady Eagles defeated Buffalo 6-3 and fell to Elkhart 4-2 in their first district loss this past week to move to 11-3 on the season and 9-1 in district play.

On Tuesday, April 8, Fairfield traveled to Buffalo and brought home a 6-3 victory over the Lady Bison.

Fairfield had six hits in the game. Evelyn Fultz led the way with three hits as Madelyn Morrison, Ryleigh Lane, and Hadlie Morrison each had one hit.

Haylee Allen pitched for the Lady Eagles and struck out eleven batters. The Lady Bison had three errors throughout the game.

The Lady Eagles hosted Elkahrt on Friday, April 11, and fell to the Lady Elks 4-2 in eight innings of play for their first district loss of the season.

Elkhart scored a run in the top of the fourth and another run in the top of the sixth to take a 2-0 lead. Fairfield answered back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at six. With two outs, Cadence Webster and M. Morrison scored on a hit by Fultz to tie the game.

In the top of the eighth inning, Elkhart managed to score two runs off from two hits and two errors. The Lady Elks stopped the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the inning to take home the 4-2 road win.

Fairfield had four hits throughout the game to Elkhart’s six. Cadence Webster, Fultz, M. Morrison, and Lane each had a hit for the Lady Eagles.

Allen pitched for Fairfield and struck out 17 batters. Fairfield had four errors in the game and Elkhart had two.

Fairfield played Groesbeck on Tuesday, April 15. The Lady Eagles will wrapup district play on Thursday, April 17, at home against the Teague Lady Lions before the playoffs.
