Early voting begins April 22

Freestone County residents in Fairfield and Wortham will have some decisions to make for the May 3 election. Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22, and ends on Tuesday, April 29. Election Day is Saturday, May 3.

Freestone County residents in Fairfield and Wortham will have some decisions to make for the May 3 election. Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22, and ends on Tuesday, April 29. Election Day is Saturday, May 3.

Voters in Fairfield ISD will have the opportunity to vote on a bond. The bond reads, “The issuance of $105,395,000 school building bonds for the design, construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, renovation, expansion, improvement, and equipment of school buildings in the district (including (I) a new high school, (II) elementary school, intermediate school and junior high school improvements and (III) districtwide safety improvements) and the purchase of necessary sites for school buildings, and the levy and imposition of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds and the costs of any credit agreements. This is a property increase.”

Unopposed candidates on the FISD board of trustee election are Ashlee Daniel, Penny Meredith, and Kimberly Whitaker.

City of Fairfield has three positions up for election. Rick Edgett, Bill Freeman, and Marcus Mason are running for Place III, which is currently vacant. Joshua Bayless is running against Roger Keeton for Place IV. Angela Oglesbee is running unopposed for Place V.

In Wortham, Patty Jones is running against Pellie Goolsby for Mayor. Patrick Evans, Scott Batts, and Deborah Darlene Butcher Evans are running for a council member at large position for the City of Wortham.

For Wortham ISD, Kyle Collins and Billy Perez are running for Place II. Brent Jones is running unopposed for Place III and Ryan Carr is running unopposed for Place IV.
