The Teague ISD school board approved the district’s cell phone policy and consequences at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5. All board members were present.
In accordance with House Bill 1481 enacted by the State of Texas, and in an effort to promote an optimal learning environment and positive learning atmosphere withinTeague ISD, students in grades PK-12 will be required to refrain from accessing and using cell phones, tablets, smartwatches, radio devices, paging devices, or any other electronic device capable of communication while on school property during the entire school day, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This is a state law.
If a student’s cell phone, smartwatch, wireless headphones/earbuds/AirPods, or any other electronic device capable of communication is visible or seen on their person, including in their pockets, at all during the school day: 1st Offense - The cell phone, smartwatch, wireless headphones/earbuds/AirPods, AI glasses, or any other electronic device capable of communication will be confiscated and stored in the campus’s front office for the day, and the parent or guardian will be notified. Each campus will have a secure area to store confiscated devices. A device confiscation form will be completed for each incident. Only a parent or guardian can retrieve the device between 3:45-4:00. The parent will sign the form upon retrieval.
