The Deception of Perception
GIVING THEM CHRIST Growing up along the Gulf Coast of Texas (my family home was only 30 minutes from Galveston Island) this time of year always spelled one daunting reality, hurricanes. Even as I type this a tropical system (Hurricane Beryl) is bearing down on the people of Houston, while we here in Freestone County celebrate some days of lower temperatures and much-needed rain.

Only Love
Paul wrote in Romans, chapter 13, verse 8, “Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another, fulfills the law.” That’s a pretty good law, isn’t it, to love one another? There are those who are easy to love, and there are those who are hard to love, but the Bible doesn’t make any distinction between the two. It simply says, “Owe no one anything, except to love one another.” C.

Nine area girls compete at Miss Texas Teen
Nine area girls competed in the Miss Texas Teen competition this past week, June 23-29, at the Eisemann Performance Center in Richardson and brought back multiple honors.

Klara Pinkerton, a freshman with Godley FFA, is a top finalist and will compete at the 96th Texas State FFA Convention in Houston. She has achieved remarkable success in FFA with her sheep production endeavors.

FMC starts new telehealth program
More Freestone and Leon County residents can now receive care from medical specialists without having to go to Waco, Tyler, Dallas or Houston. On July 1, Freestone Medical Center launched a new telehealth program designed to provide a number of new clinical services like hospitalist, cardiology and endocrinology.

Sandbass - The People’s Fish
I was well into my twenties when I first began fishing for white bass (sand bass) as they are called in north Texas. Sand bass flourish in lakes with feeder streams and each spring make spawning runs in the creeks or rivers.
