Ludicrous Information Age
Ludicrous Information Age
Imagine if you told someone 30 years ago that they would spend thousands of dollars on devices that remove them from reality, that place control over their persons in the hands of corporations, that cede access to their nervous system, that chart their every location and activity, that invade not just their privacy but the inner workings of their minds, and that they would do so willingly, even enthusiastically. People would have thought you were ludicrous. Yet that is what has happened, and I often visit with people that just parrot information that comes out of electronic devices without thinking. 11/15/2024 03:40 PM

Katy and I had a great weekend. We got to celebrate her birthday. On Saturday night, we went to the Leona Steakhouse. We met a couple there and the woman gave her a little goodie bag for her birthday. It was such a nice little gesture and it put a smile on her face. Take the time this week to do something nice for someone around you and put a smile on their face. 11/06/2024 07:47 PM

This week will see the decision of the people for the direction and purpose of our government in what most citizens pray will be a real correction from the plainly failed current and past administrations. They are in fact, the same administration warmed over for too many years. 11/06/2024 07:47 PM
Really ancient food
Really ancient food
Sometimes I wonder how our ancient ancestors survived without foods like breakfast cereal and ice cream. But maybe they didn’t realize what they were missing, because pre-historic television commercials got such poor reception. 11/06/2024 07:47 PM

Insurance hikes make affordable housing tougher
A growing number of Texas homeowners are forgoing buying homeowners insurance as premiums skyrocket, according to a recent report from the Texas comptroller. Recent natural disasters – hurricanes, severe storms and wildfires – have prompted some insurers to limit or even eliminate coverage in Texas. 11/06/2024 07:47 PM

Dear members of the Texas House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, In the ongoing saga surrounding the case of Robert Roberson, we have heard from a wide array of people proclaiming his innocence: from a law enforcement officer who investigated the case, a juror who found him guilty, socalled experts in the media, and even acclaimed TV personalities and best-selling authors. Now, in a last-ditch effort, some Members of your committee are proclaiming his innocence, and you have held hearings in an attempt to halt Roberson’s execution. 11/02/2024 08:20 AM

The Presidential election hasn’t happened yet, so there’s still time. Those intending to vote for Donald Trump know what he is proposing, and he could use the help of his supporters coast to coast. 10/25/2024 11:42 AM

5th Circuit Court removes judge from foster care suit
The federal judge who has repeatedly found Texas in contempt for not fixing its foster care system has been removed by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a threejudge panel faulting U.S. District Judge Janis Jack’s “highly antagonistic demeanor,” The Texas Tribune reported. The three also reversed the $100,000 daily fine against the state’s defendants — the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Family and Protective Services, which runs the foster care system. 10/25/2024 11:42 AM

When I was growing up there was an old abandoned building on the edge of town that my friends and I just knew was haunted. It stood crumbling and decaying at the end of a long gravel road with six-foot-tall weeds and brush growing on either side. On cool Fall nights, my friends and I would test our bravery by seeing just how close we could walk down that winding road, the wind rustling through the weeds, sounds encroaching from all sides, and then the looming presence of the old building rising out of the darkness, usually we would find ourselves sprinting back for the main road before we ever got close to the venturing in-side. 10/25/2024 11:42 AM

The power of a vote
The power of a vote
As we get closer toward election, I read the controversy about election fraud taking place and recall my experience with voting in five different Texas counties over my lifetime. In each of the voting places I encountered similar type administrators who were working as a public service and took their job seriously using great pains to ensure each procedure and question were properly performed. 10/11/2024 02:35 PM

Texans’ right to free speech is under attack…again
Texans’ right to free speech is under attack…again
Americans’ right to speak their minds is considered sacred, which is why we must fight to protect the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Citizens Participation Act. Both measures were carefully written with protection of the individual – the “little guy” – in mind. They’re designed to give a David a fighting chance if he finds himself in a legal duel with a Goliath. 10/04/2024 02:18 PM
