Goldilocks and the bears
Goldilocks and the bears
What’s the real meaning of the fairy tale about Goldilocks? To be frank (although Frank is not my name), “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” is more confusing than a stop sign on a roller coaster track. First, you gotta accept that a bear family owns a fancy two-story deep in the woods. 09/13/2024 02:32 PM

I was watching a movie the other day and heard a phrase that it would do well for all of us to remember. A financial wizard was asked what principles he used and he said ,“A reasonable rate of return.” Most financial scams are built around the theory of “an extraordinary rate of return.” I remember old-timers used to say the fastest way to double your money was to fold it over and put it back in your pocket. 09/13/2024 02:32 PM

It took some time, but a set of new laws and rules passed by the Texas Legislature in 2023 went into effect on Sept. 1, the Houston Chronicle reported. Willie Nelson sings “gee ain’t it funny how time slips away”. Karen and I attended a gravesite services the other day and noted that we were the oldest people there. Always before someone from the previous generation would be present, but that time has come and gone. 08/29/2024 11:49 AM

Keep the popcorn handy
There is an old saying that 30 days is a lifetime in politics and there is no greater example of this than what has taken place recently. In the U.S one candidate for president has quit the race and a substitute candidate has replaced him. The main opponent had spent three years organizing his entire campaign against someone who was no longer the candidate. No telling how many twists and turns there will be in the next three months. Keep the popcorn handy as we never know what will come popping out of Door No. 3. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM

War: An Extension of Diplomacy 2,600 years ago Sun Tsu, a Chinese philosopher/general wrote in his seminal treatise, “The Art of War,” that the best military leader is one that skillfully avoids active warfare, but if faced with no option except submission and total defeat, prosecutes the strongest possible aggressive war, takes no half-measures, is 100% aggressive, and survives with victory. His was excellent advice. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM
