Letters to the Editor
The Presidential election hasn’t happened yet, so there’s still time. Those intending to vote for Donald Trump know what he is proposing, and he could use the help of his supporters coast to coast.

5th Circuit Court removes judge from foster care suit
The federal judge who has repeatedly found Texas in contempt for not fixing its foster care system has been removed by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a threejudge panel faulting U.S. District Judge Janis Jack’s “highly antagonistic demeanor,” The Texas Tribune reported. The three also reversed the $100,000 daily fine against the state’s defendants — the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Family and Protective Services, which runs the foster care system.

The Lord does not give us a spirit of fear
When I was growing up there was an old abandoned building on the edge of town that my friends and I just knew was haunted. It stood crumbling and decaying at the end of a long gravel road with six-foot-tall weeds and brush growing on either side. On cool Fall nights, my friends and I would test our bravery by seeing just how close we could walk down that winding road, the wind rustling through the weeds, sounds encroaching from all sides, and then the looming presence of the old building rising out of the darkness, usually we would find ourselves sprinting back for the main road before we ever got close to the venturing in-side.

The power of a vote
As we get closer toward election, I read the controversy about election fraud taking place and recall my experience with voting in five different Texas counties over my lifetime. In each of the voting places I encountered similar type administrators who were working as a public service and took their job seriously using great pains to ensure each procedure and question were properly performed.

Texans’ right to free speech is under attack…again
Americans’ right to speak their minds is considered sacred, which is why we must fight to protect the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Citizens Participation Act. Both measures were carefully written with protection of the individual – the “little guy” – in mind. They’re designed to give a David a fighting chance if he finds himself in a legal duel with a Goliath.

Sands of time
There is an old protest song from the 1960s by Buffalo Springfield with the phrase “there’s something happening here, but it is not exactly clear” that is appropriate to the times we find ourselves in today. What is happening today can be classified as modernization and the waves from it are reverberating around the world and in every area of the planet there is a different reaction.

Goldilocks and the bears
What’s the real meaning of the fairy tale about Goldilocks? To be frank (although Frank is not my name), “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” is more confusing than a stop sign on a roller coaster track. First, you gotta accept that a bear family owns a fancy two-story deep in the woods.
