War: An Extension of Diplomacy 2,600 years ago Sun Tsu, a Chinese philosopher/general wrote in his seminal treatise, “The Art of War,” that the best military leader is one that skillfully avoids active warfare, but if faced with no option except submission and total defeat, prosecutes the strongest possible aggressive war, takes no half-measures, is 100% aggressive, and survives with victory. His was excellent advice. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM
Keep the popcorn handy
Keep the popcorn handy
There is an old saying that 30 days is a lifetime in politics and there is no greater example of this than what has taken place recently. In the U.S one candidate for president has quit the race and a substitute candidate has replaced him. The main opponent had spent three years organizing his entire campaign against someone who was no longer the candidate. No telling how many twists and turns there will be in the next three months. Keep the popcorn handy as we never know what will come popping out of Door No. 3. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM

Brush hogging an overgrown pasture during the height of fawning season from May through early July can be risky business. If possible, it’s better to wait until later in summer. Fawns will be more mobile and wary by then. Walking a field beforehand is never a bad idea. Photo by Matt Willia...
Happy ending encounter begins with separation, maternal instincts lead doe to fawn
Anyone who has ever stumbled across a perfectly healthy whitetail fawn bedded down in the wild — and had sense enough to walk away and leave the animal undisturbed — is sure to appreciate this story. Those who haven’t might learn a little something about whitetail ways. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM

Athens – SLOW. Water normal stain; 87 degrees; 0.34 feet above pool. Bass have been slow and scattered. Best options are outside grass lines on windy banks. Jigs and shaky-head worms are working, but you will need to cover a lot of water. Some bass are schooling. Crappie are slow as well. The night bite on deep brush with minnows is the most consistent pattern. Report by Jim Brack, Athens Guide Service. 08/14/2024 08:57 PM

Jesus provides precious words of assurance
Jesus provides precious words of assurance
Did you hear the story of the two lovers engaged to be married? One night the fiance got down on his knees and made the following commitment. “Honey, I love you. I really do! Why, I’d swim the widest ocean for you, I’d climb the highest mountain, I’d dig the deepest hole, all just for you. And I’ll be over next Friday night, that is, if it isn’t raining.” Would you call that “a fair weather commitment”? Sometimes we make those “fair weather commitments” to one another, don’t we? And sometimes we even make them unto God! 08/08/2024 08:07 AM
