FHS Class of 2024 graduates
A total of 107 students walked the stage on Friday night, May 24, during the Fairfield High School Commencement Exercises at the Johnson Activity Center. The ceremony was moved indoors due to the weather.

House Dems call for special session for education
Texas House Democrats are urging Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session to increase public school funding, while Abbott is criticizing them for opposing legislation last year that tied increased funding to his pet project – school vouchers. The Austin American- Statesman reported the Democrats sent a letter, written by Rep. Jon Rosenthal, D-Houston, calling for a 30-day special session focused on both increasing per-student funding and investing more in school safety.

Wildlife close to home
For the past quarter- century we have lived on a few acres in an area comprised of 5-10 acre tracts. The perimeter of two sides of the property has a wooded strip about 40 yards wide adjacent neighbor’s property that is also wooded that connects to much larger tracts and ultimately thousands of acres of ranchland.

Winkler Masonic Lodge to Host BBQ Event Saturday
Ain’t nothin’ says TEXAS like good BBQ! That’s the cornerstone of the Winkler Masonic Lodge’s annual fundraiser, scheduled this year for Saturday, May 25. The fundraiser makes possible the presentation of four $1,000 scholarships each year to graduating seniors at Fairfield High School.
