Still catching ‘eater size’ catfish
X On those days that we can get on the lake, we’re still fishing for and catching lots of “eater size” blue and channel catfish! Our fishing has been limited due to regular cool fronts bringing rain and wind to the lake area. Yesterday was one of those cool early mornings with light winds until about 11 a.m. I took the opportunity to fish with a foursome of senior citizens who had been wanting to get a trip in for a couple of weeks. The guys all live in the Fairfield area and have fished with us before. We had a GREAT morning, enjoyed numerous fish tales, and filled the Ice Chest with Catfish! (See Pic) We continue to fish for catfish as the white bass and hybrid striper bite is very slow. It’s my bet that the white bass will be back to the main lake area in the next week or so as they are now “Up the Creeks” conducting their annual spawning ritual! No surprise as to where we are catching our catfish as the timber on the Richland Creek arm of the lake is our “Go To Spot” all winter and early spring. We’re fishing with Mr. Whiskers Cheese Punch Bait on a # 4 Treble Hook fished on or near the bottom in 30 feet of water. 03/14/2025 03:38 PM

China in midst of 50 years of economic boon
In the late 1960s I took an elective in college called Chinese History. It was a time of the Vietnam War and something else not noted much in the Western World called The Chinese Cultural Revolution. It lasted from 1966 to 1976. Its stated goal was to preserve Chinese socialism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society. In reality, it was to consolidate the supreme power of Mao Zedong. 03/14/2025 03:38 PM
