Round Prairie begins building project
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Round Prairie Baptist Church building on Sunday, Aug. 25, following the morning worship service. Members of the church walked the site of the new building and prayed, as well.

Library staff, board thanks community
The Fairfield Library staff and board members are thankful for all the community support given towards their 2024 Summer Program, which enjoyed a record number of attendees at the 45 events held. Many volunteers gave their time, talents, and cash for this great cause which had 1,728 attendees.

Right thing doesn’t always win trophies
Willie Nelson sings “gee ain’t it funny how time slips away”. Karen and I attended a gravesite services the other day and noted that we were the oldest people there. Always before someone from the previous generation would be present, but that time has come and gone.

Spikers compete in Graham
The Fairfield Lady Eagles got in a lot of games over the weekend as they competed in seven matches in a very competitive Graham Tournament. Fairfield finished 4-3 during the tournament to move to 10-5 overall on the season.

Keep our eyes on Jesus
Katy and I love our weekends and getting to relax a little bit. We do have some work to do on the weekends, but we try to make some time for each other without having to do other things. We enjoyed dinner together on Friday night and a much needed weekend.

Are you hooked up to the spout where the water comes out?
I have had three somewhat successful vegetable gardens in my lifetime. The first one was while I was a seminary student in Ft. Worth, Texas. I had two large plots of plowed up ground in the backyard of the house we were renting. The second was when I was the pastor of my first church, about ten miles outside of the community of Crawford, Texas. It, too, was while I was a student in seminary. And the third was while I was pastoring a small country church in Neches, Texas. I had graduated from seminary, but this “farming stuff” was still new to me.
