Early and Later Rains
Early and Later Rains
“Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day, little Johnny wants to play.” Do you remember your grandparents or your parents teaching you that little nursery rhyme when you were growing up? Maybe for you, instead of “little Johnny” it was “little Mary who wants to play.” But you were taught that rhyme on the days it was raining outside and you were bored playing inside and wanted to go outside to play, however your parents wouldn’t let you venture out in the rain, especially if it was stormy. And speaking of rain, it seems like we’ve been getting more than our fair-share here lately in this part of Texas, doesn’t it? And I don’t mean for just a few days or just a few weeks, but we’ve had quite a lot of rain for the past two months! I can’t remember getting this much rain, weekly, like we’ve been getting it. 05/29/2024 12:09 PM

Texas House Democrats are urging Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session to increase public school funding, while Abbott is criticizing them for opposing legislation last year that tied increased funding to his pet project – school vouchers. The Austin American- Statesman reported the Democrats sent a letter, written by Rep. Jon Rosenthal, D-Houston, calling for a 30-day special session focused on both increasing per-student funding and investing more in school safety. 05/23/2024 04:00 AM
