Game management assoc. will hold annual banquet
The Freestone County Game Management Association will be hosting its annual banquet on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Twisted Vines Event Center. The business meeting will start at 5 p.m. and the doors for the banquet will open at 6:30 p.m.

Ree Martin celebrated her 45th work anniversary at Brookshire Brothers last month. Martin began her journey at Brookshire Brothers in August 1979 and has since excelled in various roles. She currently serves as the Pricing coordinator. “Her dedication fosters a strong sense of family among her team, and she’s always ready to lend a helping hand,” Brookshire Brothers wrote in a post online. New Texas laws now in effect
It took some time, but a set of new laws and rules passed by the Texas Legislature in 2023 went into effect on Sept. 1, the Houston Chronicle reported. Prominent among these are the SCOPE Act, or Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment Act, which tightens restrictions for online users younger than 18.
