The Fairfield Lady Eagles went 2-0 this past week, picking up wins over Westwood and Centerville. The wins take Fairfield to 17-11 overall and 2-0 in district play.

County receives clean audit report
Freestone County commissioners heard good news from the county’s most recent audit, the auditor finding the results of his recent audit as positive. That happened Sept. 18, when the court also kept the burn ban in place; agreed to some suggestions to increase safety; and made other decisions concerning the upcoming election preparations and other decisions concerning the county’s finances and well-being.

Clara Evaughn Cox
Clara Evaughn Cox was born on Nove. 2, 1930, in Freestone to Bill Early and Emma Mae (Beasley) Bodine. She went home to her heavenly father on Sept. 17, 2024, at the age of 93. Clara passed away peacefully at her residence with her family present.

Saw an older factually based movie the other night called “Geronimo,” based on the wartime years of his life concluding with his surrender and what was left of his Apache tribe being transported out of Arizona to Florida to be prisoners of war for the rest of their lives.
